If you know me, you know I don’t make decisions like this lightly.
I went back and forth for a long time—researching, questioning, second-guessing myself. As a nurse, and someone who truly believes in holistic health and getting to the root cause, starting a GLP-1 medication felt… complicated.
Part of me wondered:
Am I taking the “easy way out?”
Shouldn’t I be able to do this naturally?
What will people think?
But another part of me knew the full picture—the one most people don’t see.
So I decided that if I was going to do this, I was going to do it with full transparency.
My Background & Why This Wasn’t a Simple Choice
I’m not new to health and wellness.
As a nurse—and as someone deeply interested in functional medicine—I understand how important nutrition, movement, sleep, and hormones all are. I’ve applied these principles in my own life for years.
But here’s the part that often gets left out:
Even when you know what to do… your body doesn’t always respond the way you expect it to.
Between being a mom, working, and going through the demands of school, my body has been under a constant level of stress. And over time, I started noticing changes:
- Increased fatigue
- Weight that wasn’t responding the same way
- Hormonal symptoms that felt harder to ignore
- Less consistency—not from lack of knowledge, but from real life
And that’s when I started asking deeper questions.
What Made Me Seriously Consider GLP-1
For me, this wasn’t about quick weight loss.
It was about:
- Understanding what was happening metabolically
- Supporting my body in a different way
- Breaking out of a cycle that felt frustrating and discouraging
I started looking into GLP-1 medications more closely—not just from a surface level, but from a clinical and physiological standpoint.
What stood out to me was how these medications:
- Affect appetite regulation
- Support blood sugar balance
- Impact insulin response
And for many women—especially those dealing with hormone imbalance or insulin resistance—this isn’t just about willpower. It’s about physiology.
That perspective shifted things for me.
The Internal Conflict (Because This Was Real)
Even with all the knowledge, I still struggled with the decision.
I had moments where I felt:
- Guilty
- Unsure
- Concerned about judgment
- Worried about side effects
And I know I’m not alone in that.
There’s a lot of noise online right now—opinions, criticism, unrealistic expectations—and it can make this decision feel even heavier.
But I had to step back and ask myself:
What is best for me, my health, and my life right now?
Why I Ultimately Said Yes
At the end of the day, I didn’t make this decision out of frustration alone—I made it from a place of intention.
I chose to start this journey because:
- I want to feel better in my body
- I want to support my long-term health
- I want to be honest about what this process really looks like
And most importantly…
I don’t believe in hiding parts of my journey to fit a certain narrative.
What You Can Expect From Me
Because I value transparency and trust, I’m going to share this journey openly.
That means:
- The good
- The hard
- The unexpected
- The wins and the struggles
I’ll be posting weekly updates so you can follow along with me in real time.
No filters. No unrealistic expectations. Just honesty.
If You’re On the Fence Too…
If you’ve been thinking about this, questioning it, or feeling unsure—you’re not alone.
This is a personal decision, and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
My goal isn’t to tell you what to do.
It’s to:
- Share my experience
- Provide education along the way
- Create a space where we can talk about this without judgment
This is the beginning of something new for me—and I’m really glad you’re here for it.
Next week, I’ll be sharing my Week 1 experience, including how I felt physically and mentally.
If you’re on a similar journey, or even just curious, I’d love to hear from you 🤍
