Illustration showing human silhouette with text: STRESS, CORTISOL, ANXIETY, FIGHT OR FLIGHT, and HOMEOSTASIS.

A central human silhouette is filled with glowing red and purple neural pathways and prominent chemical structures for cortisol. Surrounding the figure are symbolic representations of pressure, including dark clouds labeled ‘STRESS’ and ‘ANXIETY,’ broken clocks, and industrial gears. At the base, a weighted balance scale tips heavily away from ‘HOMEOSTASIS,’ illustrating a state of physiological imbalance. The artwork utilizes a dramatic contrast between warm inner glows and a cold, chaotic background to convey the intensity of the fight-or-flight response.

Welcome to Hot Flashes & Cold Brew!

I’m Rosa, a certified neurology nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner student, wife, and mother of three. My approach to women’s health is rooted in functional medicine — looking beyond symptoms to understand the root causes of what women experience in their bodies, particularly through the hormonal and metabolic shifts of midlife.

Women’s health has long been one of the most underdiagnosed and overlooked areas of medicine. Too many women leave their doctor’s appointments feeling dismissed, confused, and unheard — told their symptoms are normal, their labs are fine, and that what they’re experiencing is simply part of getting older.

Hot Flashes & Cold Brew exists to bridge that gap between clinical knowledge and everyday life. Here you will find evidence-based education on hormonal health, weight management, and mental wellness explain in simple terms we can all understand.

My goal is simple but ambitious.

I want women to understand their bodies. I want them to walk into every medical appointment armed with knowledge and the confidence to advocate for themselves. And I want this community to grow beyond a blog — into a worldwide network of informed, empowered women who refuse to accept anything less than the healthcare they deserve.

You belong here. And together, we’re just getting started.
